We run businesses too.
Thinglet has been working in the Coachella Valley since 2011. Before that its founder was running restaurants, meeting payroll and building websites for people who needed the phone to ring. That background is the whole difference in how the advice here sounds.
The short version.
Founded 2011
Palm Desert- Started as Thinglet Software and Marketing
- Office on Country Club Drive
- Same valley, same owner, the whole time
Owner-operated
Not a franchise- No account handoff after the sale
- No offshore production layer
- The people who pitch do the work
Three disciplines
Under one roof- Marketing and advertising
- Web development and hosting
- AI and automation
Patrick Albert
Navy veteran. Two decades of hospitality ownership, from the floor to the books. Building on the internet since 1999. Author, speaker, and the person who will be on your strategy call.
The Navy part
Honorable service, and the habits that came with it. Show up, own the outcome, tell people the truth when something goes wrong. It is not a marketing angle, it is why deadlines here are treated as commitments rather than estimates.
The restaurant part
Twenty years owning hospitality businesses teaches things no course does. What a slow Tuesday feels like when rent is due. Why a bad review at the wrong moment costs more than the meal. How fast a customer walks when nobody answers the phone.
The technology part
Building on the web since 1999, and still running the servers personally. That means when your site goes down at 9pm on a Saturday, the person who answers can actually log in and fix it rather than opening a ticket with someone else.
The writing part
Author of practical business books including The Small Business Owner's AI Playbook, and a speaker on AI and emerging tech for local business groups and schools. Explaining complicated things in plain language is the same skill as marketing them.
Things we believe, stated plainly.
Fix before you spend
Order matters- Advertising to a site that doesn't convert wastes the ad budget
- We will tell you to fix the free things first
- Even when that means a smaller invoice this month
No guaranteed rankings
Nobody can promise those- Anyone who guarantees a Google position is guessing or lying
- We show the work and the movement instead
- Reporting written so you can actually read it
No long lock-in
Month to month- Long contracts mostly protect the agency
- If it isn't working, you should be able to leave
- You own your accounts, domains and data
Honest about AI
Useful, not magic- We build with it daily and know where it fails
- Nothing reaches your customers unedited
- We will tell you when it is the wrong tool
Local isn't a marketing word here.
Seasonality shapes everything about marketing in this valley, and it is the thing out-of-town agencies get wrong most often.
Season changes the math
Demand swings hard between the busy months and the summer. Budget spent building visibility before season arrives works differently to budget spent reacting once it has started, and a flat monthly plan ignores that entirely.
Snowbirds search differently
A large part of the valley's customer base arrives from somewhere else, searches on a phone, has no established loyalty and picks from whoever looks credible first. That is a search and reputation problem more than an advertising one.
Nine cities, not one market
Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta and Indio have genuinely different customers and different competition. Treating the valley as a single blob is how campaigns end up expensive and vague.
Word travels fast
It is a small business community. Chamber events, referrals and reputation carry real weight here, which is why we would rather lose a job than take one we cannot do well.
Before you call.
How long have you been in business?
Thinglet started on 16 August 2011. Patrick has been building on the internet since 1999 and has run businesses in this valley the whole time.
Who will I actually be working with?
A small local team, with Patrick involved directly in strategy. Your account does not get handed to a junior coordinator once the paperwork is signed, and there is no offshore layer between you and the people doing the work.
What size businesses do you work with?
Mostly local businesses with real revenue and no internal marketing department. Professional practices, home services, contractors, hospitality, retail and nonprofits. If you need one isolated task at the lowest possible price, we are probably not the right fit and we will say so.
Do you work outside the Coachella Valley?
Sometimes, for existing clients who expand or for work that does not depend on local knowledge. But the valley is the home market and that is where we do our best work.
Can I just get a website and nothing else?
Yes. Plenty of clients start with one thing. We will tell you honestly whether a website alone will solve the problem you actually described, because sometimes it will not.
